Soul Wellness Method Turns One! Updates & what I’ve learned…

April 27th, 2016 I launched Soul Wellness Method. To say I learned a lot this year is an understatement.

I had no idea what I was doing. I had a vision of what I wanted and I just went for it.

Three months prior to the launch I hired a branding company who built this gorgeous site, helped me come up with an Instagram strategy, and gave SWM its’ identity. I couldn’t afford them, but I knew the importance. So I hired them.

Right around the launch, I applied to be an ambassador for Athleta at their flagship store at The Grove. Since I was just starting, I felt applying was a stretch but I made a 10-min video application, blessed it, and sent it in anyway! And I got it.

I was 1 of 50 ambassadors in the country. I got to host events every month that allowed me to connect with the community. Athleta set up one of my highlights of the year when I got to speak to 200 students about wellness at GALA, the first public all-girls school here in LA.  I am forever grateful to Athleta for they have always believed in me.

I have built a beautiful roster of clients. Each time I meet with a new client either via Skype or in-person, I am blown away. These beautiful people who have chosen me as their nutritionist & wellness coach are exactly the people who I pictured as my clients from the start. They are intelligent, hardworking, and most importantly, kind. Every single one of you gives me the greatest gift. Thank you.

Recently, I was brought on to be the Resident Nutritionist at boutique fitness studio modelFIT LA, a company I’ve admired, and kept my eye on for a LONG time! I get to work with clients and be surrounded by an amazing like-minded community.

On July 1st, 2017 I’ll be moderating the Wellness & Nutrition panel at the Love Beauty Wellness Festival in LA where I’ll be crafting a conversation with other women who work in the respective fields. I’m so honored to be hosting!

Last month I announced that I’ll be hosting my first wellness retreat in Portugal. I had a revelation a few months ago when I realized I could combine my love of healthy travel and planning trips with my nutrition practice. So I curated a 7-day all-inclusive wellness retreat in a 12 bed/12 bathroom home that incorporates local foods, balanced living, and lots of fun! I’ve brought on a private chef, hired a local yoga teacher for daily practice, booked a boat day, hike day, bike day, and a day-trip to Spain. The feedback has been amazing and it’s shaping up to be the most wonderful group. I am really proud of this work.

I have now been a guest on one of my favorite podcasts, #nofilter a few times, built and INCREDIBLE Instagram community, have worked with countless wellness and beauty brands, been hired to write for other blogs, collaborated with other bloggers/influencers/coaches in wellness, have grown my love and appreciation for entrepreneurship and Instagram strategy and have got to help some new businesses with theirs.

After this whirlwind of a year I’ve realized the importance of slowing down and working smart. My days have become super full, so much so that I fear I’m going to miss a meeting or a phone call (which I did last week). I am working to be more structured (creativity thrives in structure!), and precise.

I’ve learned the importance of patience — Rome wasn’t built in a day, after all. And I’ve learned the importance of mutual support with other entrepreneurs and small businesses. We need each other.

Obviously in my line of work I feel very strongly about taking care of my body and mind. But when working on a project it’s easy loose sleep, to put working out on the back burner, and indulge in bad habits — eating in front of the computer is unacceptable. And so is checking email in bed.

Doing this only left me energetically drained and it closed off my soul from thriving. I won’t be doing that anymore.

This year I want to continue working one-on-one with amazing individuals in my nutrition practice as they are my greatest teachers. I want to continue working with amazing brands and collaborating with amazing people. I want to continue writing for my blog and other blogs as writing clears my heart. I want to be on more podcasts, hosts more meet-ups, and start a YouTube channel. I want to expand my niche of healthy travel by working with hotels and curating retreats in amazing locations that allow me to connect with others on a deep level.

I want to carve out more time for the things that bring me joy like quality time with loved ones because what’s the point of all of this if we don’t have each other?

Thank you so much for a great year. My heart is full today. I’d love to hear from you in the comments below &/or via email.
