DIY // Pearl Powder Clear Skin Mask

Making a facial mask way to give yourself 20 minutes of love. Finding  small ways to give yourself “me-time” begins to shift the way we approach ourselves, others, and the food choices that we make. Self-love is the first thing I help clients dive into with when working together.

Here is one of my favorite homemade masks that I made at Athleta The Grove in collaboration with Equinox this past weekend that helps to decrease inflammation, reduce redness, oil, and breakouts.

Approach your mask making in a calm, loving way knowing you’re doing something nice for yourself and you’ll be glowing from the inside out!

Banana // We know banana is filled with potassium but it also contains lectin which is a natural fighter against bacteria. Banana contains vitamins A, B, and C and will be your skin’s BFF.

Avocado // filled with iron, potassium, magnesium, and vitamins A, E, B, and K, avocado soothes the skin, and gives it a major boost of hydration.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil // Don’t be scared of oil! The overlooked superfood is known for it’s anti-inflammatory properties and it’s major hit of antioxidants. Fight those free radicals from our environment, and bask in the glow of less redness and less swelling on your skin.

Pearl Powder // Yes, real pearl powder. Used in ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for it’s healing and beautifying properties, pearl powder can be ingested and used topically. Filled with calcium, magnesium, amino acids, and trace minerals, all things most women are deficient in, the powder will help even out skin tone, and curve hormonal breakouts.  Start using this in your body and on your skin, and you’ll start to shine like the little marine treasure.

*Be sure to consult a doctor before adding anything new to your diet

Probiotic // Use your favorite probiotic as a way to calm inflammation and flight bacteria. Probiotics are a staple in my diet and used topically they’ll sooth your skin. Open the capsule and add to the mix. Pop one while you’re at it!

Mineral Salt // Used for centuries as a healing agent, mineral salt will your skin fight bacteria, inflammation, and nourish it with trace minerals. Use it as an exfoliator by applying in gentle circle motions.

  • Add all ingredients to bowl
  • Use a whisk or hand blender to mix

  • Cleanse your beautiful face
  • Liberally apply the mask while rubbing in circular motions allowing the sea salt to exfoliate.
  • Set a timer for 15-20 mins
  • Take a couple of deep breaths, light a candle, hop in a bath, grab a book, or put on your favorite meditation app
  • Rinse, moisturize, smile at yourself <3
