While food is a major factor in setting ourselves up for success in terms of health and wellness, there are many environmental and lifestyle factors that contribute to the detriment of our health and well being.
More of us are waking up to the fact that we CAN control what we put in, and on our bodies. What’s going in our bodies has a much further scope than the food we’re eating. This includes toxic vitamins and supplements, plastic packaging, toothpastes, tampons, condoms, and lubricants (to name a few).
Deodorants, lotions, hair care, nail polish, colognes/ perfumes, and teeth whiteners are among the things many of us are waking up to and realizing that these are seeping directly into our bloodstream through our skin and acting as endocrine disrupters, wreaking havoc on our hormones.
These hormonal effects are seen in premature aging, an increase in fertility issues in women, early menopause, horrible PMS and periods, low sperm count and DNA sperm damage in men, and the list goes on…
Lately, I’ve been talking about my favorite ways to achieve a ‘Healthy Body State”, which is when we can hear our body’s needs and know its’ happiness. Little by little we can get closer to who we know we are deep in our soul.
We can do better by making small changes, and voting with our dollar. These changes don’t have to be drastic, and you can start anywhere you’d like. Just start.
I chose to focus on skincare first, and I’m at about 50% improvement overall.
My new favorite product that was gifted to me by my ex Air Force, bad-ass, momma friend, Joshica Kiah is Activated Charcoal Soap, who handcrafts her products herself in Los Angeles!
Activated Charcoal is used in hospitals for toxic poisonings and drug overdoses, and has gained a lot of popularity in its’ supplement form in the health and wellness community.
Activated charcoal doesn’t absorb toxins, but adsorbs them, which means that it acts as a magnet and allows toxins to bind to it.
One gram of activated charcoal has a surface area about one tenth the size of a football field. That’s a lot of surface area!
I’m a big fan of recommending activated charcoal capsules for internal detoxification, but be careful if you’re on any medication as it can bind to the important rx that your body actually needs!
With skincare, activated charcoal clears your skin of pollutants and other toxins that can be on there due to environmental factors, and/or your cosmetics, and allows for your skin to function better by encouraging healthy cell turnover, and leaves you with glowy skin!
Joshica Beauty’s Activated Charcoal Soap is vegan, 85% organic, and provides loads of moisture from the Shea Butter and vitamins A & E in the coconut oil. Coconut oil is naturally anti-bacterial and anti-microbial so no need for the toxic anti-bacterial soap 🙂
