Plant Based Protein // SUNWARRIOR

Yes, plant based protein is a thing! This is something that is becoming more known, and I’m hearing less of the “but how do you get your protein in a plant-based diet?” question. The plant kingdom had loads of protein and it’s nearly everywhere!

If you’re plant based, looking to head in that direction, or just want to switch up your routine I love SUNWARRIOR protein for this.

I’ve been a big fan of SUNWARRIOR for quite some time. In the past, I’ve struggled with issues in my gut and wanted a protein powder that doesn’t contain grains. SUNWARRIOR to the rescue! SUNWARRIOR brand is really one of the only protein powders that doesn’t contain fillers like soy, dairy, added sugars, and gluten. And all of the ingredients are recognizable.

They have a few different types of powders varying in nutritional needs, all with the same straightforward ingredients.

While I was healing my gut I used the Warrior Blend- pea protein, hemp protein, and goji berries, weighing in at 17g of protein per serving. If you’re following a Paleo, grain free, or GAPs diet, this is the one for you.

I’ve been so busy lately building my Private Holistic Nutrition practice that I’ve needed fast, easy, and most importantly, nourishing foods. So I contacted SUNWARRIOR about trying their single-serve Classic Plus powder.

I love the fact that this version has a ton of nutritional value from the superfoods like chia seeds, quinoa, and amaranth. Plus, my gut has been better so I felt good about incorporating quinoa and amaranth (both grains) into my diet again. (This one also has 17g of protein per serving).

Just note that needed protein values will vary between individuals based on their bio-individuality, lifestyle, and goals.  If you want some more protein, add another scoop, or use two packs!

Both powders are amazing and come in single-serves. I’d say to choose based on what your current lifestyle needs are, and perhaps try Classic Plus if those ingredients aren’t something you usually have on a daily basis. It’s good to give your bodies’ cells different information.

There’s no excuse for not having healthy foods available anymore. Eating healthy is convenient, you just gotta know where to look!

Here’s my go-to recipe for smoothies:
I always go for the chocolate flavor since I have this thing for chocolate 🙂

Soul Wellness Method Energy-Stabizer Smoothie
1 serving of SUNWARRIOR Protein Vegan Protein Powder
1 cup of unsweetened dairy-free milk: almond, coconut, hemp
1/2 avocado
1 pasture-raised organic egg yolk
1 scoop of coconut oil or coconut butter
A dash of stevia
Fresh mint leaves to taste
A scoop of raw nut butter: almond, cashew, walnut
Some ice
Blend on medium-high (depending on how icy you like it) in a VitaMix or high powered blender
Sprinkle any superfoods you have at home on top: bee pollen, hemp seeds, maca, cacao powder etc.

*If and when I’m on the go I just add water and the powder to a bottle and shake it!
